CrowdSecIP Reputation

IP reputation that shows what an attacker actually did

CrowdSec IP reputation tells you whether an IP is dangerous and what it has been doing: which attacks, against which countries and industries, how recently, mapped to MITRE ATT&CK. The data comes from 500,000 production servers that attackers actually target, not from honeypots. Look up any IP for free, enrich your alerts through the API, or run the full database offline.

Understand Your Attackers

Blocking any and all aggressive IPs is a solid option. But blocking IPs based on unwanted behaviors that have the potential to harm your infrastructure, gives you greater flexibility and targeted protection for your perimeter.

The Network Effect of Cyber Threat Intelligence

We believe the best way to defend against cyber threats is to work together by sharing information and collaborating as one.

Our open source Security Engine sits at the heart of our data collection and it is built on community intelligence, giving us a bird’s eye view of the global attack landscape and allowing us to detect advanced behaviors and cyber attacks like never before. Security Engine users actively contribute to a network of threat intelligence that strengthens the defense of the entire CrowdSec Network.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if an IP address is malicious?

Paste it in the free CrowdSec lookup: you get a verdict plus what the IP did, when, and against whom. For many IPs at once, use IPDEX on your logs or the API.

Is there a free IP reputation API?

Yes. A free CrowdSec key gives 120 lookups a month, enough to test an integration; Premium plans include 1,500 a month, with options up to 100,000.

Where does CrowdSec's IP reputation data come from?

From more than 250,000 active CrowdSec Security Engines (open source), protecting more than 500,000 servers, which share more than 40 million attack signals a day as metadata (which detection fired, when, and the attacking IP), never logs. We flag an IP only when many independent machines across many networks report it.

How is it different from honeypot-based feeds?

Honeypots only see untargeted internet-wide scanning. Our signals come from real production systems, so we also see attacks aimed at specific industries and countries, and we can tell background noise from targeted activity.

Can I use it offline or in an air-gapped environment?

Yes, with the offline replica: a full, regularly refreshed copy of the database you query locally.

Which tools does it integrate with?

SIEM, SOAR and TIP/TIG platforms including Splunk, QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, MISP, OpenCTI and Cortex XSOAR; anything else through the REST API or TAXII.
